Howletts Wild Animal Park

Howletts Wild Animal Park, Kent’s most successful and multi award winning animal park, offers visitors the chance to experience real conservation.

Howletts is a breeding sanctuary for some of the most rare and endangered species in the world. With over 450 animals and over 50 individual species, plus plenty of new births and arrivals, visitors have the opportunity to see real animals, real close and be part of real conservation in action.

Home to the world’s largest collection of critically endangered western lowland gorillas and the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, Howletts offers visitors the chance to get up close to Amur tigers, Northern Chinese leopards, lions and wolves in their glass fronted enclosures and walk with lemurs as the Madagascan favourites explore the branches overhead.

Set in 100 acres of historic parkland, there are wooded walkways and pathways to explore and fun and fact filled animal talks taking place at various times throughout the year, so there’s plenty for visitors of all ages to discover and enjoy.

Visitors can also try their hand at the exciting Treetop Challenge – an obstacle course, set high in the trees with rope bridges, tyre curtains, cargo nets and zip wires. Younger adventurers can enjoy the Animal Adventure Challenge featuring slides, swings and more

One of the County’s most popular visitor attractions, Howletts has conservation at its heart. Visitor monies help fund the park’s vital work with endangered species and enable the park to return animals back to protected areas of the wild, in conjunction with The Aspinall Foundation.

Visitors can take advantage of special events at Howletts, including fun activities, special animal enrichment and other special events, all included in the price of the ticket at no extra cost! Visitors can also make the day extra special by booking additional activities, including talks by our expert animal teams, animal encounters and photography days.
