RSPB is a charity that has over 1 million members in the UK. Membership helps birds, wildlife and the environment and enables people to get close to nature.

From just £4.58 per month for a Family of 2 adults and all their children, members receive a magazine 4 times a year, entry to over 100 nature reserves and a free joining gift.

Pulborough Brooks - Pulborough, West Sussex
Set in the heart of beautiful countryside this reserve is a fantastic day out for people of all ages. Walks lead through hedge-lined paths to viewing areas and hides where voluntees are often on hand to point out the wildlife. Guided walks, Family holiday fun and Hands-on activities. Visitor centre, play area, tea room, picnic area and a shop.

Pagham Harbour Local Nature Reserve - Near Chichester, West Sussex.
Is a glorious and peaceful nature reserve, one of the few undeveloped stretches of the Sussex coast and an Internally important wetland site for Wildlife. Visitor centre, toilets, picnic area, guided walks, Family holiday fun and hands-on activities, pushchair friendly.

Adur Estuary - Near Shoreham, West Sussex
The small reserve is composed of saltmarsh and mudflats that afford a good feeding and roosting site for waders and wildfowl. The reserve has no facilities as such, but it can be readily viewed from the surrounding footpaths and rewarding views can be had from Coronation Green, which is situated near the town centre of Shoreham-by-Sea.

Fore Wood - Near Battle, East Sussex
This is a glorious and peaceful woodland, with fascinating 'ghylls' - steep-sided little ravines in the sandstone - where rare ferns grow. In spring the reserve is a mass of bluebells and wood anemones, with early purple orchids adding to the show.

Broadwater Warren - Tunbridge Wells, East Sussex
Is an exciting new RSPB reserve just south of Tunbridge Wells. Acquired in January 2007, it is currently a large area of conifer plantation, plus remnants of heathland and ancient woodland within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Chichester Harbour Conservancy - Chichester
A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Guided walks and activities including trips on a solar-powered boat and Victorian oyster boat. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a wetland of international importance, a Special Protection Area for wild birds.

Sussex Wildlife Trust - Sussex

Bentley Wildfowl & Motor Museum - Lewes

The Raystede Centre - Ringmer
Around 1500 unwanted and abandoned animals arrive at the centre annually. Dogs, cats and other small companion animals are found new caring homes while others remain in Raystede's care for the rest of their days. There are at present over 1000 animals enjoying a happy and peaceful life at the centre. Admission is free but donations welcome and £1.00 for parking.

The World Land Trust is a conservation charity that has helped purchase and protects over 400,000 acres of rainforest and other threatened wildlife habitats worldwide.

In some areas in South America it is possible to save an acre of rainforest for as little as £50. In other areas it is more expensive, but rest assured, donations are still used in the same way: to enable partner organisations to purchase threatened wildlife habitat and protect them as permanent reserves.
