Sunday 27th July 2pm
The first train departs at 2:00pm, and the last just before 5:00pm. There are normally at least three trains running, with others being fired up as needed.
Children are fascinated to see real coal shovelled onto a roaring fire, and the train drivers (many of whom build their own locomotives) are only too happy to explain how it all works ! For those of us a bit older, loud whistles, the hiss of escaping steam and the smell of hot oil bring back memories of times past. The quarter mile track sits in a landscaped area with plenty of shade (for a picnic!), and nearby there is a children’s public playground.
